How much does a concrete driveway cost in Auckland?

Forme prices each project against its agreed scope. Area is one part of the price: removal of the existing surface, excavation, spoil disposal, base preparation, access, drainage and the selected finish also need to be considered. A square-metre rate is only useful when you know exactly what it includes.

Send your suburb, approximate dimensions, site photos and preferred finish. We will review the project and discuss what is needed for a quote. We do not publish a blanket installed rate because two sites with the same area can require very different work.

What should a concrete quote include?

  • The area and intended use: driveway, patio, courtyard or pool surround.

  • Any demolition, excavation, disposal and base preparation included.

  • The specified concrete, reinforcement and finish.

  • Boxing, access arrangements and any concrete pumping allowance.

  • Drainage, edging, joints and other details within the agreed scope.

  • Any later finishing work, such as an agreed acid wash or sealer.

  • Exclusions, GST treatment, payment terms and timing.

Compare quotes against the same scope. If one excludes removal or drainage, the headline totals are not directly comparable.

Exposed aggregate or coloured concrete?

Exposed aggregate highlights the stone within the concrete and gives the surface a visible texture. Coloured concrete uses pigment to change the concrete colour; the surface finish is a separate choice. The options can also be combined. Discuss samples and photographs before selecting a finish, and consider how it sits alongside the home, paving and planting.

Planning a patio or courtyard

Start with how the space will be used, its relationship to the house and garden, and the levels around doors and existing surfaces. Include furniture areas, paths and any future landscaping in the conversation. Finish, drainage and access for construction should be agreed before the pour.

Choosing concrete for a pool surround

Discuss the finish for a surface that will be used with wet feet, along with drainage, pool edges and adjoining landscaping. Appearance is only part of the decision. Ask how the proposed finish and any sealer suit the intended use, and confirm relevant product guidance as part of the specification.

Preparation, curing and ongoing care

The agreed preparation and specification matter as much as the visible finish. Before handover, ask when the area can be used, what care is required and whether further finishing work is scheduled. Cleaning and resealing instructions should follow the products actually used on your project; timing is not the same for every surface or sealer.

What should I send for a quote?

Your Auckland suburb, approximate area, current surface, preferred finish, access information and timing. Photos or plans help us understand the site. Tell us whether you need full preparation or concreting only so the quote covers the right work.
